Hey boat owners, some good news just in time for a warm weekend: you’ll be able to bring boats on Cherry Creek Reservoir starting this Saturday, April 1.

The ramp on the west side of the park will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The ramp on the east side will open later in April.

To bring a boat out, you need to register your vehicle, complete an inspection and pay a $3 visitors fee. Colorado Parks and Wildlife also advises testing your life jackets and safety equipment. The state also provides its own life jackets on a first-come, first-served basis.

All that applies to motorized boats. Hand-launched boats like kayaks and canoes don’t need to use the ramp or go through an inspection.

Have fun on the water! And if anyone wants to invite us on their boat, you know where to find us.

And if you don’t have a motorized boat, here’s a list of bodies of water in and around Denver where you can swim, kayak or fish.
